GOALS: Our goals for these sessions is for students to learn how to put together their instruments, basic maintenance of instruments, forming an embouchure, and how to create a sound on instruments! This camp is so we can start off running when it comes time for the school year to start! WHEN: Thursday, August 20th and Friday, August 21st TIME: Instruments will each have a certain time to make sure the same instruments are grouped together. We don’t want different instruments in the same class. Each session is 45 minutes long. They are more than welcome to do both days but each session covers the same topics. MATERIALS NEEDED: Students attending our Intro to Band camp will need their own instrument with the needed supplies. This class is intended for free-building with building block technics. Generally we will be creating Great Ball Contraption modules that can be arranged to feed balls from module to module. Requirements for intake and delivery heights and widths are standard for each module. Everything in between is up to your imagination! This is hosted by Byron Robotics. We have all the beams, pins, gears, connectors, motors and controllers required.

This class will utilize building block robots that students may customize to meet increasingly difficult challenges. Students will have their own robot and computer to use in class. Class lessons are designed for students new to building and programming with robots. Students will learn to build and program the robots to navigate a maze, deliver and move objects from target to target, and for the final event, compete against opposing robots in a battle arena.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a global robotics competition where teams of 5-6 students strategize, design, build and program custom robots. The game is played on a 4'x8' field with 16-19 "missions". Join us Monday, August 17th for a preview of the 2026-2027 season. The theme this year is BioGlow and we will have the new matt and missions set up. We will go over the FLL program, presentations and competitions. We will also tour the facilities and play with the bots. FLL is a CE program that is run by parent volunteers. To that end, parents are welcome to join in the fun.Sign up for the season by selecting either a Monday/Wednesday practice schedule or a Tuesday/Saturday schedule. Please note that the actual times/dates will depend on the volunteer coaches' schedules so the times and dates may change.

Ride the Rhythm Wave! Join us for Rhythm Wave, a summer series of percussion lessons designed to keep your skills sharp and your beats strong. Whether you’re working on mallet instruments, snare, or anything in between, these lessons are perfect for all levels of percussionists in Grades 7-12. Mondays and Wednesdays, June 1-August 12 Typically offered between 3:00-6:00 PM Bring your mallets, sticks, and any books you’re currently working from. We’re excited to offer one-on-one reading tutoring with Mrs. Tracy Boyum, an experienced Reading Teacher at Byron Primary School. With many years of helping students grow academically, Mrs. Boyum is eager to work with a small group of students this fall.
