Starting SoonGymnastics AdvancedAdvancedThe goal of the Byron Community Education Gymnastics program is to offer a fun, safe and physically active outlet for kids. Kids will work on flexibility, strength and gymnastics skills along with social skills. Gymnasts will work on flexibility, strength and gymnastics skills along with social skills. This class is the final recreational class gymnasts are able to participate in. In this class they start working on more advanced skills such as flight skills on beam, handsprings and tucks on the floor, kips and handstands. The advanced level has 16 skills to pass. Gymnasts will participate in the class independently with a coach. Attire: No clothing with buttons, snaps or zippers are allowed as these items can damage the equipment and a safety hazard. Leotards/singlets are encouraged, but shorts and t-shirts are allowed, and all long hair needs to be pulled back or put in a ponytail. Starting SoonGymnastics Beginner 1Beginner 1The goal of the Byron Community Education Gymnastics program is to offer a fun, safe and physically active outlet for kids. Kids will work on flexibility, strength and gymnastics skills along with social skills. This is the first level in our recreational program. If your child is new to gymnastics, this class is right for them! Children must be 5 years and older to attend this class. They will learn basic gymnastics, strength skills, stretches and terms in this class. Gymnasts will participate in the class independently. This class is designed for boys and girls. Attire: No clothing with buttons, snaps or zippers are allowed as these items can damage the equipment and a safety hazard. Leotards/singlets are encouraged, but shorts and t-shirts are allowed, and all long hair needs to be pulled back or put in a ponytail. Children must be 6 years old to attend this class and must have successfully passed the Beginner 1 level or have instructor approval to register. T This class would be a good choice for those with some past gymnastics training. Gymnasts will build on the gymnastics and strength skills they learned in Beginner 1 by adding additional skills and improving both strength and flexibility. Gymnasts will participate in the classes independently. This class is designed for boys and girls. Attire: No clothing with buttons, snaps or zippers are allowed as these items can damage the equipment and a safety hazard. Starting SoonGymnastics Intermediate 1Intermediate 1The goal of the Byron Community Education Gymnastics program is to offer a fun, safe and physically active outlet for kids. Kids will work on flexibility, strength and gymnastics skills along with social skills. Intermediate 1 is the next level in our recreational program after Beginner 2. Children must be 7 years old to attend this class and have successfully passed the beginner level 2 or have a couple of years of gymnastics experience. They will build on the gymnastics strength skills they learned in Beginner 2 by adding additional skills and providing both strength and flexibility. These skills require additional strength and flexibility. The intermediate level has 19 skills to pass. Gymnasts will participate in the classes independently. Attire: No clothing with buttons, snaps or zippers are allowed as these items can damage the equipment and a safety hazard. Starting SoonGymnastics MAGA By Invitation OnlyMAGA GymnasticsThe MAGA Team Program is for gymnasts that have demonstrated skills at a level that allows them to start putting enough skills together to complete a full routine. Some general skills that are required include: Vault - Handspring or Half on vault Bars - Pull over, Back hip circle, hop-up to high bar Beam - Full toe turn / cartwheels / round-off dismount Floor - Back walkover / front walkover / working back handsprings This program follows the same rules and scoring used for high school which is nice for those that are planning to compete at the high school level in the future. Please note that this registration fee helps pay for the coaches. Additional frees for leotards or tournaments may be required. In Tiny Tots, gymnasts are introduced to gymnastic terms, positions, and basic skills working on strength and building a love for the sport. Gymnasts will participate in classes independently.
